Sweet (Sarkarai) Pongal

Ingredients:
Rice - 1cup
Green Gram Dhal - 1 heap tablespoon (dry fry to golden brown)
Water - 1 1/2 - 2 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 - 3/4 cup
Cardamom - 1 full seeds
Ghee - 2-3 tbsp
Cashews - 6-8
Method:
Soak the rice for 20 to 30 minutes. Fry Dhal to golden brown.
Cook rice & dhal together as normal rice in cooker.
Mash slightly the cooked rice when its hot & add jaggery and keep in fire stirring continuously till it boils.
Remove from stove, add cardamom powder & fried cashews and serve.

Akkara Vadisal
For Akkara vadisal rice & dhal are same as above. Only 1 cup water and add 1 cup milk while cooking.
After taking from cooker add more milk and mash it using blender.
Mash the cooked rice coarsely. Add 1/2 cup Jaggery ( to taste).
All other procedure is as above. This is somewhat dilute than Pongal.

Tips:
Remove cardamom cover and use only seeds. Also, make seeds into powder and use. This gives more taste & smell.
