Semiya Upma
(Semolina Upma)
Ingredients:
Semiya (Semolina) : 1 cup.
Water : 2 cup.
Onion : 1 big size (diced in small long pieces).
Green chilies : 3 (cut vertically into pieces)
Mustard seeds : 1/2 tsp for seasoning
Urad dal : 1 tsp for seasoning
Jeera : 1 tsp for seasoning
Bengal gram dal : 1 tbsp for seasoning
Curry leaves : 15 leaves (optional) for seasoning
Oil
Salt (to taste)
Method:
1. Fry semolina in 1 tbsp of oil till light brown and keep it separately.
2. Boil 2 cups of water and keep it ready
3. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a Kadai, add Mustard seeds. Once it is spluttered, add urad dal and fry till urad dal turns into light golden brown color. (Urad dal will fry quickly and hence, care to be taken, if required remove kadai from heating while frying urad dal).
4. Add Bengal gram dal, green chilies, Jeera and curry leaves and fry.
5. Add Onion and fry till the onion turns into light golden brown color in low heating.
6. Add 2cups of boiling water into the kadai and add fried semolina. Add required salt. Cook in medium heat till all the water is absorbed.

1 tbsp : 1 Table Spoon
