Soup Powder
Ingredients:
Red Gram (Toor) Dhal : 1 tbsp
Poppy Seeds : 1 tbsp
Coriander Seeds : 1 tbsp
Red chilly : 2 to 3
Black Pepper whole seeds : 3/4 tsp
Cumin (Jeera) Seeds : 1 tsp
Sombu : 3/4 tsp
Cinnamon : 3/4 inch length - 1 piece
Clove : 1 to 2 piece
Oil - Little.
Method:
Heat a heavy frying pan and dry-roast all the ingredients separately with a drop of oil except Jeera and Sombu.
While Roasting, heating should be medium, so that none of the ingredients won't turn black.
Every Ingredient should be stirred frequently during roasting to prevent burning.
Jeera and sombu can be heated little, which will help to make fine powder.
Poppy Seeds should be spluttered little and color changes to white while roasting it.
Once each ingredient gives a strong aroma during roasting, remove from pan, cool it down.
Grind the ingredients finely through a mixer or any other food processor.
This powder will serve for tomato soup of 5 big tomatoes.
You can make a larger quantity of soup powder by using the above ingredients in the same ratio.
Always store the powders in a airtight container or Zip bags to pertain its aroma for longer period.
If possible keep the powders in the freezer to retain its aroma.
